@annahavron Please do come see the sandhill migration! We finally went this year (this is the year I also decided to get into birding), and it was fantastic. I really want to do a guided visit early in the season next year.

@dwalbert Thanks! The place already has a great vegetable garden space so we're definitely continuing that. We plan to get an orchard planted, and I'll likely do some conservation grasses / pollinators in a second pasturage.

@odd Yep, prescribed burns happen but not as extensively as other places in the country. There’s some challenges between private land owners and public lands managers (eg, the government) which has so far not really shielded private owners from liabilities in the event a burn they initiated gets out of control. Indigenous peoples have a long history of controlled burns, and there’s moves to reintegrate that knowledge into western land management.
